56 hours is an art collective established in 2018 by S Mate Olah (HU) and Viki Nagy (HU), based in Rotterdam (NL).
Their work usually starts with small ideas that are crystallizing and deepen through their playful and free experimentations. Crossing crafts and industrial techniques in their work allows them to think differently about prevailing objects, materials and technologies. Professional training in art and theory helps the studio to resourcefully reflect on contemporary issues.
56 hours’ works have been exhibited at Design District in 2019. They actively hold workshops and collaborate with artisans and manufacturers.
Viki graduated from Contemporary Art Theory and Curatorial Studies at the Hungarian University of Fine Art. She studied ceramics and graphic design. Her particular interest is sound art and she has an ongoing research on the field. She published in Artmagazin and Apokrif Online Magazine.
Mate studied Design Engineering at The Hague University of Applied Sciences.
After completing the foundation year he continued his studies at Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam at Product Design department.
During the time at WDKA, he co-founded Wafeldam, a confectionery company as well as 56 hours design studio.
