One Piece Lamp, 2024

Design: Viki Nagy, S Mate Olah

Material: ash & pine wood

The One Piece lamp is made from a piece of wood, from which a thin shaving is taken
and bent to create the lampshade.
The connection between the shade and the body unfolds visually, narrating how the object was made. The pieces are individually hand-crafted tofine-tune the thickness and translucency of the lampshade.

Design method

The base is housing the electronics, with the cord highlighted on the edges of the lamp.
The thin shaving is bent and placed in a slot on the base around the light bulb. The beautiful wood grains take the center of the attention as the pattern is repeating the base’s, and when the light is lit, the unique colors of the wood are revealed.

At SaloneSatellite 2024, we exhibited two lamps made from different kinds of woods, pine and ash, to test the properties. We choose European types to highlight the beauty of locally grown species.
